A focused Occupy Demand

Everyones biggest complaint about Occupy anything is that there is no focused statment as to what we want. I have been giving this matter some considrable thought. I think the underlaying cause to all of the greivences people have is that western socity has been opperating on the princple of money before people, profit before wellbeing of people and the planet. I think what we need to demand as a whole is People Before Money, Enviroment before Profit, Food before decrative landscapeing. This is a real simplification of all that our hearts feel. I do belive though it is our ticket to makeing more people understand and getting on board. I belive it is the key to getting all the problems fixed. I hope that People and Planet before Money! becomes the primary statment of demand in occupies all over the world. Brandy McNeil of Occupy Kelowna has also suggested an altnative wording and framing of the concept that I also love. "We the people shall demonstrate a new society, where we prove People be...fore Money, And Environment before Profit, is a sustainable future" and "We here in Kelowna will begin to develop and demonstrate that within our circle of supporters, by taking it one baby step at a time, showing transparency, accountability, and a shift, within our society, back to basic values, and protection of our rights!'

Why Occupy in Canada

I keep hearing why are Canadians protesting, things in Canada are good. Here is why, the money gap in canada is growing even faster then the USA's (we have better bank laws wich is why things aren't as bad here as they are there atm). Becouse every child is currently born with aprox 16000 dollars worth of debt curtasy of our national debt. We have cut backs all over and yet we as a nation are still spending 3billion dollars a year in overseas relief. We have tons of wheat and other grains rot becouse farmers can't sell them for less then a certain amount curtasy of the wheat board that is supposed to protect thier incomes.(but why are we then haveing people who can't affod to eat) That well banks persay did not get a bail out mortage companies did to the tune 153 million dollars. It is cheaper to buy a apple from the states then one grown in canada. Companies put profit before people so noted that lots of places avoid hireing full time employes so they don't have to give medical benifits or arrange it so workers time on clock is half hour short of qualifying them. (for starters) Yes there is a reduction of people on welfare and a increase of people without homes becouse they no longer qualify for welfare. Yes there are less people on employment insurance becouse they no longer qualify not becouse there are more jobs. There is something very wrong when animals without homes are treated better then people without homes. Our goverment don't listen to us so noted by the fact we said no to the HST in BC and they did it anyway (this is only the one of the most recent examples of this) and now something that took them 6 months to put in place is going to take two years to get rid of.(what the hell) Not to mention the exorbrient amounts that are payed to former goverment officals and employees of huge severance and retirement packages that amount to more money then many of us could ever hope to see in a year per year. On top of this is the amazing phenomenom I have been seeing in relation to the occupy protests of northren canadian cities makeing routine concerted efforts to shut the protesters down instead of being patient and letting the cold doing it for them. Irreagrdless of if they got a point or not what is so threating about groups of people excerciseing thier constitutional right to peaceful assembly for a extended period of time. I wonder why small local goverments feel so threatned by this here in canada if life here is so good there is no reason for them to be protesting.
