Hunting Season

Its that time of the year again when those who have money dig out their firearms and go hunting. Now why do I say those of have money? A pal costs roughly $130, A hunting licence aproxmently $40 and tags run about $25 each and are no garentee even of getting meat. A rifle can run anywhere between $100 to $500 plus dollars and hundred dollar rifles are few and far between. Not to mention the $200 dollars one requires to spend on a deep freeze that will house ones game (if one is lucky they can find a free working one that is not going to die in the next year) or the cost of having a home big enough to house the deep freeze. There is also the extra electrical cost of running the deep freeze. There is also the cost of ammunition and the fuel to go somewhere to hunt. End result those who could use something other then a diet of cheap pasta and hot dogs can not afford to hunt. I believe we would be better off if you have a income that is below the poverty line then ones Pal should be subsadised. Hunting licences should be half off and you should get one free tag a year. I am sure that there some more ideas that are viable within the rules of our society that would make it so that those that could use the meat the most could hunt. As things stand those who live below the poverty line can not afford to help provide for themselves and I personally feel that this is very wrong here in Canada where we have a abundance of wild game.

Virtual garden and Farming games

Virtual Gardening and Farming games are amazeing specially when we play them on a social media site. Its crazy how they just steal our lives. We feel guilty if we don't log in and help our friends and tend our crops and flowers and animals. We obsess on meeting the production deadlines for the lastest bit of bling or neat new critter or whatever. The big question though is how does one translate ones desire to raise food and animals to real life. Face it people if you play more then one of those kind of games its a expression of your inner desire to grow real food and raise real animals. It might even be a subconciouse one that you are compleatly unaware of. Fact is there is somthing innately sastisfying to the soul to eat things you grew your self. There are usually three factors in why people do not grow thier own food. Factor One: Space -If you are inventive no matter how little of space you have to live in it is possible to grow something you can eat, you just have to be creative try googling vertical gardens and small space patio gardens and apartment window gardens. Rabbits are tasty and do well in back yards or even houses and are tasty. More and more cities are allowing backyard chickens and really as long as you have no roster and move thier pen regularly-see chicken tractors and clean it your neighbors might not even really notice them. Factor Two: Time -Gardening takes up just as much of your time as lawn matenice. And will take less of your time then your virtual farm and gardens, if you got time for them you surly have time for a real life one. Factor Three: Money Lots of dollar stores sell seeds. Dirt is free and so is composting your own stuff and there is great ways to do this that are smell free for small houses. Fact is it is relatively cheap just about any container can hold a plant. check your local freecycle group for free planting containers. then all you need is a shovel. for digging dirt and your good to go. Gardening don't have to be complicated. Lots of places give away free pallets wich are useful for free wood. Step away from the virtual farms and gardens and step into some real ones the rewards are more tangable.

Its all about me and what I can do for you!

For those who know me Hi all, for those that don't Hi I am Rowean.
I am sure some of you are thinking wtf is she up to now. I'm up to a change! I spent the weekend at the salmon valley womens festival and returned home with a insight. Those who know me well know I got fibromyalgia and a regular nine to five job don't fit me well. You also know I have a chronic money shortage and my family is on income assistance. Those who don't know me well now know these things to. There are some things in this world I am good at, some I am very good at and some I am ok at. Fact is though I have a dream, a dream of living off the grid I want to make happen so desperatly that sometimes I cry becouse it feels like I am never going to be able to make that dream a reality. Things like making my dream a reality takes money however wich I have perciouse little of. So here it is, I am good at research-need something researched don't have time to do it yourself message me, call me, email me tell me what you need and I will find it for you for a resonable exchange of goods/time or money (I am flexable) we agree on before I start work. Have a problem? I am good at problem solveing. Need help brainstorming? I can do that too. Need help formating plans for apocolypse, fire evacuation, earthquakes, major disese outbreak or economic collapse. I can help with that too along with some training in skills that could be important in some of those senarios. Want a Tarot Card reading? I can do that too. Need a last minute babysitter I am almost always available. Need someone to come pick you up from a bar in Prince George BC? I can do that as well. Want to learn to bake? Have a fear you want help overcomming? Just need someone to talk to? (friendship is free and one can never have too many of them) Point is there are a lot of things I am really good at, they just don't tend to be things that apply in traditional job fields. Live in prince george and need a girl friday earrand runner I can do that. Hell need someone to catalog your spoon collection that you keep meaning to do for insurance reasons but haven't gotten around to yet, well I can do that too. Please let me help you with something wich will in turn let you help me make my dream into a reality that will in turn I hope help many.

Bit by bit

Congratulations people! We are winning bit by bit. One country after another has been banning GMO's. Cheerio's is now guaranteed GMO free. Hawaii has banned plastic bags at the till.  Someone has invented a way to take carbon out of the atmosphere and is using it to make a type of plastic. Individual Cities are putting bans on bee killing pesticides. Boy scouts are now allowing the openly gay to participate. Some one has invented a shower that recycles the water and reheats it that has a 90% water save and a 80% energy save. New York is baning the use of Styrofoam. Ukrainians are using mirrors in protests to show the policing force what they look like. I see more and more awesome things all the time that will help prevent planetary ecological disaster and some progress in humans caring about their planet and about one another. Just remember nothing is somebody elses problem. Everyone is a someone and can do something. Just ask how can I instead of saying there is nothing I can do. Keep up the great work.

Bitch, Snivel, Whine!

All words and no actions

I have noticed in recent years, no wait my whole  life that people love to bitch, snivel and whine. They complain about : The government, Gmo's, chemicals, water, taxes, food security, the manner in which electricity is generated, lack of recycling programs, the homeless, the drug addicted, and so on and so forth and scooby dooby do. It is all so awful and so horrible and someone should do something. Guess what people you are someone and you can do something! If you don't then shut up.  If you are not willing to take actions to change things then it can't be that awful or horrible. I am just one person, what can I do? Step one determine what can be done to change things. If your issue is political start looking at your avenues of dealing with the problem, hate the government work on recruiting others and starting a mass recall of representatives. There is a process for the removal of government officials. Use it! GMO's lobby for labelling and banning recruit friends engage in letter writing campaigns to government officials, start a petition I understand parliament has to hear at least a purposed legislation if you can get the support of a mla and a certain number of signatures. Food security check out the http://www.incredible-edible-todmorden.co.uk/ if they can do it so can anyone else. Point is, if you look and try there is something anyone can do to change things and if it is important enough to you, you will. So step up or shut up!
